Tests

Diagnostic Tests Used in Internal Medicine

A doctor of internal medicine uses various resources to provide patients with answers explaining their symptoms. Even specialists in various subspecialty areas receive the generalized training necessary to provide diagnoses for patients experiencing symptoms that impact any organ or system in the body. At Washington Township Medical Foundation, we utilize a full suite of diagnostic services in order be able to provide our patients with the answers that they need. These tests also provide routine screening services in order to keep our patients healthy and well. If you have questions about your symptoms or if you need to speak with a doctor, visit our internal medicine department at Washington Township Medical Foundation.

You can find additional information about the tests we use at our Fremont medical facility on the pages below:

Different Types of Testing

Different types of tests are used in finding the root causes of different symptoms, and vary depending on the symptoms and the type of pain, discomfort, or other irregularities experienced by the patient. In some cases, some tests may simply be utilizes as part of a routine checkup to determine overall wellness and to screen for potential diseases or problems including various forms of cancer.

Laboratory tests are tests that involve examining samples from a patient’s body. Laboratory tests include blood tests, urine tests, spinal taps or “lumbar punctures,” stool samples, and throat swabs. Imaging scans are used to obtain clear images of the inside of the body. Many of these tests are non-invasive and include methods such as X-rays, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs), and computerized tomography (CT) scans. A biopsy involves taking a sample of tissue from your body for examination under a powerful microscope, or other forms of testing / analysis.
