What Is HIV / AIDS?

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can cause AIDS, a condition that inhibits your body’s natural ability to fight infections. Once HIV is in a person’s body, it tends to affect the immune system in a series of stages. Many people with HIV seem very healthy and normal.
