Echo Stress Test

Leading Cardiac Care in Fremont

Washington Hospital Healthcare System utilizes a number of heart and vascular diagnostics for identifying heart disease and other conditions in our patients, including echo stress tests.

Echo stress tests go by several names, including:

  • Stress echocardiography (ECG)
  • Stress echo
  • ECG stress test
  • Treadmill ECG
  • Exercise ECG

An echo stress test may be conducted on a treadmill or stationary bike, or using specialized medications that mimic the affects of exercise and cause the heart to exert itself. As you exercise or experience the effects of the medication, a cardiologist will monitor your readings, including your blood pressure and breathing.

Purpose of an Echo Stress Test

These tests can help our cardiac team obtain information about the patient’s heart health by showing how the heart responds to exercise.

An echo stress test may be used to:

  • Detect the presence of coronary artery disease
  • Determine how much exercise is safe for a patient after a heart attack / cardiac surgery

Symptoms may include discomfort in the chest, extreme shortness of breath, stifling of the heart muscle movement, and other abnormalities.

Washington Township Medical Foundation is committed to helping our community enjoy health hearts. Contact our cardiology department to learn more about our diagnostic services and the other tests we provide.
