About Dr. Tenold
When board-certified pediatrician Patricia Tenold, MD, MPH, joined Washington Township Medical Foundation in March 2022, it immediately felt like home.
“I grew up in Fremont and still live in the area,” Dr. Tenold said. “It’s a wonderful, dynamic region and a great place to raise a family.” That family includes a 3-year-old toddler and one on the way. In addition, her dad was a physician on the WTMF staff for many years before before retiring from clinical duties, and her mom is a longtime pediatrician in the community.
The best part about her job, she told us, is developing a long-term relationship with families. “You get to take care of the most important thing to a family –– their child,” she said. That care can start with a prenatal consultation with Dr. Tenold and pick up with a visit after the baby is born. “As a pediatrician, this is one of my favorite times,” she added. “A newborn’s parents really appreciate the teaching we can offer, and it’s fun to be part of such a special time in their lives.” Dr. Tenold said this relationship usually continues into a child’s late teens or beyond. Throughout her career, Dr. Tenold has made public health a priority. She’s been involved in many community volunteer projects, including HIV prevention, nutrition for at-risk youth, preventive health programs and more. Her Master in Public Health degree is from University of California, Irvine, and she earned a medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y. In her career, she has taken part in many scholarly and research projects, and has received awards for clinical excellence. Her board certification is from the American Board of Pediatrics.
Away from work, she enjoys life as a busy mom while she and her husband plan for their 2nd child, all while trying to squeeze in some reading and checking out the local parks.
“I really love being a pediatrician,” she said. “Every day, I get a chance to meet children and their families and be a part of ensuring good health, and I cannot think of anything more important.”
